The Community Volunteer Coordination Core serve to centralize and coordinate the distribution of humanitarian actions (i.e. emotional support, hotel check up, meals, personal care, etc.) during the Kansas City Hotel Initiative.
The perspective at the Community Volunteer Coordination Core of the Kansas City Hotel Initiative is “First, feed the people.” We believe not a single individual should go hungry, while they experience housing insecurity. It is enough stress to conquer the obstacles of an ordinary day, without doing so on an empty stomach. As the City provides a roof over the heads of our at-risk houseless population, we the Community want to ensure their basic physical needs are met.
